Today's neglected holiday figure isn't so much "neglected" as just lesser-known in the United States. And also less of a "figure" than a real person. This is Sanghamitta, a Buddhist nun who was greatly influential in bringing the Buddhist religion to Sri Lanka, as well as parts of China. On the Full Moon of December, or Uduvapa Poya, Sri Lanka celebrates her two most well-known accomplishments: her initial arrival from India, and bringing a sapling of the Bodhi tree (the one Buddha is believed to have reached enlightenment beneath) to Sri Lanka.

Since today's card features a real person, why not feature a comic about a real person? Check out Piece of Me, a rather fun slice-of-life comic I like to binge read every now and then.
